Private estate wedding planning guide – planning a wedding or special event at a private estate is no small task.  Unlike going to a hotel or country club, where everything is at your finger tips, a private estate requires additional planning and a more flexible budget.

Here is a checklist that can help guide you with the planning process:

1. Consider your own home to see if your wedding or special event will work.  If you find that it does work, this will save you a venue rental fee.
2. Before you sign any agreements, we highly recommend creating a budget and guest list so you can determine the right venue.
3. Once you have a budget, our office takes 20% of the overall budget as a guide for the rental fee budget.
4. Hire a professional event planner, who has experience planning events at a private property.
5. Private estate rentals start around $12,000 and go up.
6. Research the weather on your preferred date(s) and make sure that you have a rain contingency plan in place.
7. Consider setting up an Uber or Lyft account so your guests don’t have to drive.
8. If you are on a septic system, bring in restrooms or have your septic pumped. If you are renting a property, consider paying the owner to have their septic pumped or bring in restrooms. The owner will tell you his or her preferences.
9. You have more flexibility on how you want the space setup. If it is your own home, then there is 100% flexibility.
10. You can bring in your own alcohol as long as you have a licensed and insured bartending company or caterer to serve it.
11. Make sure the you have special event insurance in place for your event.  If you are doing it at your home, let your insurance company know that you are having a party at your home.
